About this spot

Surf in Crete, the local kite school, calls Amoudara Beach "the beginner to intermediate spot" and runs private and shared IKO courses there plus a deep-water boat-session option. The school qualifies its claim: conditions in recent years have had gusty, unstable wind close to shore, and it transports students to the best conditions of the day. Breeza describes shallow, sandy bottom suitable for beginners, flat to choppy water, NNW side-shore to side-onshore wind and April–October season peaking July–August.

SurfinGR's indexed guide also lists shallow water but warns of a reef ledge just below the surface, sea urchins and many summer swimmers, so the whole beach is not obstacle-free. Guide wind figures such as 20–25 knots in July–August are source descriptions, not verified operating limits, and the widely repeated "219 windy days per year" statistic has no published method behind it in this audit. Confirm the active launch and swimmer separation with the school.
