About this spot
A 2017 first-hand report on the Expat.com forum describes a purpose-prepared launch on the Grande Lagune, about 16.5 km along the Assouindé–Assinie road: a flat area arranged for safe kite launches with more than 200 m of standing depth, reached by a well-graded dirt track on the left, following the 'Villa Tiba' signs.
The lagoon behind the Assinie sandbar is the coast's flat-water alternative to its ocean beaches — both the south-west monsoon and the north-east Harmattan work over the sheltered water. But the report dates from 2017 and the launch is private/arranged: contact Villa Tiba (it keeps a Facebook page) before planning a session, and confirm the setup still exists.
No kite school operates in Côte d'Ivoire — the nearby Kame Surf Camp teaches surfing only — so beginner suitability stays withheld until the launch is verified on site with an instructor present.

Needs local verification: Compiled in October 2026 from Let's Kite's Côte d'Ivoire country page and Grand-Bassam spot guide, spots.guru's Grand-Bassam forecast page, Kame Surf Camp's own website (kamesurf.com — surf school, no kite instruction), a 2017 first-hand Expat.com forum report on the Assinie lagoon launch and surf-forecast.com's Assinie sea-temperature series. No kite school operates in the country, so beginner suitability is withheld everywhere. The Villa Tiba launch and both ocean pins are approximate. Needs local verification.
