About this spot

Hui Ning Kiteboarding calls Hainan the prime place to kitesurf in China and runs its spring base directly on the beach at Bo'ao from March to June, when it reports consistent 15–22 knots most days and occasional days above 25. The school offers 1:1 private lessons — including a 15-hour beginner course — plus rental, storage, a shop, restaurant, showers and beach assistance.

A second operator teaches beginner courses at Boao/Qionghai from April to September and moves to Haikou from October to March because the wind direction changes; it notes that Sanya, despite its beaches, isn't ideal for kiting.

No source we found publishes the usable wind sector at Bo'ao, so the directions shown are an estimate — confirm with the school. Bo'ao is about 1h30 by taxi from Haikou airport or 20 minutes from Qionghai station.
