About this spot
Kitesurfing St Lucia is based on Cas en Bas beach towards the north of the island. The school describes a C-shaped bay on the Atlantic side where an outer reef keeps the water flat inside while the swell breaks upwind outside, about ten minutes' drive from the main hotels.
Lessons start from no experience: trainer kite on the beach, then body dragging in shallow water, with boat-assisted sessions to save the walk upwind. A community spot guide lists the north-east trade as the main direction, side-onshore at the launch, 16–25 knots, with a December–July season and January–May best.
The same guide warns of a shallow reef in the middle of the bay, and smaller waves form on the far side. Most of the island's few local riders kite here.
