Nouméa's kite schools take students by boat from the city marinas to Îlot Maître (and nearby Îlot Goéland). Lessons run in shallow lagoon water — usually waist deep — from the islet's beach, with radio contact to the instructor.
The tide decides the timetable: one school teaches on Maître from two hours after low tide to two hours before high, and on Goéland around low tide. Schools publish their schedule monthly.
Kite civil-liability insurance is required for lessons (available through the French kite association). The sources don't give wind directions; the sector shown assumes the south-east trades and needs confirming on site.
