About this spot

Orient Bay is the island's main kite spot, with flat water, waves, deeper water and island crossings. The average wind is about 13 knots year round; December–April trades bring 15–18 knots, and mornings are windier.

Several schools teach here. First lessons take place on a large shallow sand bar, with radio coaching and motorboat assistance; one school describes the water as shallow, flat and clear with constant side-onshore wind.

The longest-running school says launching from the beach is only for advanced riders who can go upwind, and that the bay can be crowded — intermediates get boat assistance and drop-off.
