About this spot
Shoaiba is an inland lagoon on the Red Sea coast south of Jeddah. Saudi Arabia's IKO instructor community calls it a closed lagoon with consistent wind and shallow flat water, and a local school says it works in all wind directions, with a sandy beach, mangroves and no coral reef.
That school requires first-timers to attend a one-hour safety class in Jeddah before their first lesson; its page currently says it is reopening soon, and other schools teach in Jeddah too.
The Saudi Sailing Federation is the official authority for kitesurfing. Access arrangements for the lagoon aren't documented — check with a school before driving out.
