About this spot
The Kiteboarding Association of Hong Kong teaches at Shui Hau Wan from September to March, when the wind is east to north-east, describing the bay as a huge pool of shallow, flat water with room to rig on the beach or grass. Megaloop Kite School also bases its windy season (October–March) here.
Wind runs about 8–20 knots side to side-on. Booties are recommended. It is a big tidal flat, so check the tide table before going.
Access is by bus 11/11A/23 from Tung Chung to Lower Wan Lung, or bus 1 from Mui Wo to Shui Hau football field; private cars need a permit past Shek Mun Kap.
