About this spot
Kitesurf Tofo offers courses from complete beginner to advanced, taught by certified IKO instructors, and equipment rental for riders who can demonstrate a safe standard. Its own page distinguishes Tofo Bay's small waves from the larger surf at Tofinho and the flat-water lagoon at Barra. This card covers Tofo Bay only.
The established Kiteforum guide lists north-east through east to south-east wind directions, with August–December as its best-month window. Conditions still depend on the day's swell and wind angle. Beginners should let the instructor select the teaching venue rather than assuming an ocean-bay lesson always takes place at this pin.
Tofo is an active beach, so keep clear of swimmers and boat launch activity and ask locally about current channels and safe launch space. The school specialises in light-wind equipment as well as conventional kites. Confirm availability before travel and do not treat its nearby venues as interchangeable launches.

Needs local verification: Sources: https://kitesurftofo.com/lessons-and-rentals/ and https://www.se.kiteforum.com/kitesurf/spot/Tofo. Beginner teaching is confirmed, but the school chooses between Tofo, Barra and other venues according to conditions. Coordinates approximate the bay, not a verified lesson launch. Confirm operating dates, boat channels, current, water depth, parking and rescue cover locally. Water-temperature fallback values are estimates. No verified local live webcam was found; Windy links are searches/maps.
Local hazards
- Ocean swell and shorebreak; not a flat-water lagoon
- Swimmers and boat activity share the beach — confirm launch channels
- Current and water-entry conditions need a local briefing
- Tofinho and Barra are different venues, not extensions of this bay pin
