About this spot
Bulabog is the beach that put the Philippines on the kite map. It sits on the east side of Boracay, a ten-minute walk over the island's spine from the famous White Beach, and from November to April the north-east Amihan monsoon blows side-onshore into the bay at a reliable 15-25 knots. The bay is about 2.5 km long, protected by an offshore reef that flattens the inside water, and lined end to end with kite schools, rental centres and beach bars — several of them IKO-affiliated and teaching in multiple languages.
The water inside the reef is flat to lightly choppy over sand, waist-deep in the teaching zones and deeper towards the reef, which makes it a genuine learn-here spot as well as a freestyle arena — the Asian tour events have run here for years. At low tide the lagoon gets very shallow in places and the reef edge is sharp, so booties are a common sight. The wind reverses in the Habagat season (June to September), when the south-west monsoon turns Bulabog offshore and the riding moves to the White Beach side — but kiting on White Beach is restricted by Boracay's municipal rules, so most riders simply treat summer as the off-season.
The trade-off for the convenience is crowding: in peak season the bay is one of the busiest kite spots in Asia, with lesson zones, upwind beginners and pro freestyle riders sharing the same water. The municipal government has regulated the beach before (including a full island closure for rehabilitation in 2018), so expect launch zones, possible caps and rules that can change between seasons — confirm the current setup with your school before you travel.

Needs local verification: Compiled in October 2026 from the schools' own pages and independent spot databases (Kite Insider, Kiteguide, Kitesurf The World, KTA event reports). Kite riding in the Philippines is largely unregulated outside Boracay's municipal rules, so exact launch pins, seasonal beach-space changes and resort access all need confirming on site, and the coordinates below are approximate rather than verified launch points. No verified live webcam exists for these spots, so the camera links open Windy's webcam search instead of a confirmed local feed.
Local hazards
- Heavy crowding in peak season — lesson zones, beginners and freestyle riders share one bay
- Sharp reef edge and very shallow patches at low tide — booties recommended
- The SW Habagat wind is offshore here — a no-ride direction for this beach
- Municipal rules and launch zones change between seasons — confirm before travelling
- Jellyfish and sea urchins reported occasionally near the reef
