About this spot
Hassi Jerbi is the school beach north of Zarzis: a long white sand shore with 3.5 km of shallow water in front of it, held back from the open sea by an offshore reef. Zarziskite runs the beach — a lagoon beside the school is kept for people who have never ridden, while the shallow flat outside the reef is where everyone else stays. The bottom is sand throughout, and the beach itself is natural and wide rather than developed.
The reliable wind here is the easterly thermal, the local sherqi, which comes in side-onshore from April to October; a westerly is offshore on this coast and is better spent at the Djerba lagoons. November to March brings frontal days that can be the strongest of the year and often carry a westerly component, so check the direction as well as the speed before you rig.
Zarzis, 4–5 km away, holds most of the hotels, and the school runs a shuttle to and from them for booked services with pick-up times arranged beforehand. There is no shade and no public facility beyond the school's own toilets, shower and changing rooms, and rescue cover is the school's motorboat rather than a lifeguard service — so rig within sight of it and ask where the reef breaks before you push out.

- Toilets, a shower and changing rooms at the school; Zarzis town, 4–5 km away, has the banks, clinics and restaurants.
Needs local verification: Compiled in October 2026 from the KiteInsider spot records for Souk el Guebli (El Kantara) and Smile Beach (Sidi Smaël), the operator FAQ for the El Kantara lagoon, the Zarziskite school spot page and OpenStreetMap geocodes; the reported 2025 beach-use fee, the teaching-zone boundaries, the reef line at Hassi Jerbi and every launch point must be confirmed on site, and the water temperatures are published monthly averages for the Djerba–Zarzis coast rather than lagoon readings.

- Winter frontal days can be strong and often come with an offshore westerly component.
- There is no shade on the sand and no public facility beyond the school's toilets, shower and changing rooms.
- Rescue cover is the school's motorboat rather than a lifeguard service, so rig within sight of it.
