About this spot

Jambiani continues the Paje lagoon a few kilometres to the south: the same fringing reef, the same warm shallow water and the same two monsoon seasons (NE Kaskazi in December-March, SE Kusi in June-September), with far fewer kites on the water.

This is a working village beach. Seaweed farming is a major livelihood here, so stakes and lines cover large parts of the shallows — pick a clear lane and respect the farmers. The tidal range is large, and low tide leaves much of the lagoon dry. Whether a school currently operates on this stretch was not confirmed, so treat it as a spot for independent riders unless a local centre confirms lessons and rescue.

Access & parking

About 10 minutes south of Paje by road. Launch from a clear stretch of beach away from the seaweed farms.

Parking: Informal parking at beach hotels and guesthouses.

Amenities

  • Guesthouses, hotels and restaurants along the village beach

Needs local verification: Compiled in October 2026 from independent spot guides and the Paje schools' general descriptions. Launch pins, which school operates where, seaweed-farm positions and tide timings change from season to season, so everything here needs confirming on site and the coordinates are approximate, not verified launch points. School presence and beginner suitability at Jambiani and Bwejuu were not confirmed from a primary source. No verified live webcam was found, so the camera links open Windy's webcam search instead of a local feed.

Local hazards

  • Dense seaweed-farm stakes and lines in the shallows
  • Large tidal range — lagoon dries at low tide
  • Sea urchins and coral patches
  • Rescue not confirmed — ride with a buddy
  • Westerly winds blow offshore — no-ride
