About this spot

Cambodia Kiteboarding has run from the Villa Vedici riverside resort in Kampot for over a decade with IKO-certified instructors. Lessons are held on the Kampong Bay estuary, 7 km downriver from town — a big bay of shallow, warm water with plenty of room to make mistakes and no crowds.

The school describes two wind seasons: December to March, then the wind swings onshore from April to early October. It advises adding about 7 knots to the Kep Thmey forecast because Bokor mountain accelerates the wind at the beach.

Getting there: tuk-tuk ($7 one way, dry season only), speedboat or longtail ($10 return) from Villa Vedici.
