About this spot
Keel Point is the beach the island's kiteschool works from — a stretch of powdery sand on Anegada's north coast where the water stays waist deep for a long way out and no waves break inside the reef. That is why the school's own site puts first lessons here: you can stand up, relaunch and body-drag without ever being out of your depth.
The trade winds blow cross-onshore from the north-east from December to July, averaging 17–22 knots by the school's own figures, and the island is flat enough that nothing gusts the wind. Space is the real luxury — Anegada is ten miles long, two and a half wide and carries a fraction of the BVI's boat traffic, so you will often have the beach to yourself.
The catch is logistics. Anegada is the far island, reached by a short flight or a long ferry from Tortola, and the school's base at Anegada Beach Club sits at Setting Point on the south coast, a short drive from the kite beach. Sort the transfer out before you plan the session.

Needs local verification: Sources: the school's own spot page (cross-onshore NE trades, 17–22 knots December to July, waist-deep water with no waves breaking inside the reef, first lessons starting on the sand) and Anegada Beach Club, which lists a full-service kitesurfing school on site. Coordinates are approximate — the club's base is at Setting Point on the south coast and the launch beaches shift with the wind. Wind figures are the school's stated averages, not a station record. Needs local verification.
Local hazards
- Reef and coral heads around the edges of the lagoon — booties recommended
- Remote island: no rescue service on the water and medical help is a flight away
- Ferry and flight schedules decide the session as much as the forecast does
