About this spot

Kite Beach in Umm Suqeim is where Dubai kites: a free public beach beside the Burj Al Arab with a designated kite launch strip. It is a city session rather than a kite village — joggers, food trucks and families share the sand. The best wind runs from about November to April, mostly the north-westerly Shamal and afternoon sea breezes, with February the windiest month.

Lessons are sold on the beach, but the spot is busy and best suited to confident riders; beginners should learn with a school and stay strictly in the kite zone. Lifeguards work daylight hours only and swimmers are everywhere outside the strip. A southerly or south-easterly land wind blows offshore and is a no-ride direction.

Amenities

  • Lessons and rental on the beach
  • Food trucks, cafés, showers and toilets

Needs local verification: Compiled in October 2026 from Abu Dhabi Maritime's local marine notice designating the North Yas kite site, Time Out Abu Dhabi, Kite Insider and a Dubai beach guide. Zone boundaries, registration rules, opening hours and lesson prices change, so everything here needs confirming on site and the coordinates are approximate, not verified launch points. No verified live webcam was found, so the camera links open Windy's webcam search instead of a local feed.

Local hazards

  • Kite only in the designated strip — swimmers everywhere else
  • Crowded beach and water on windy weekends
  • Southerly land winds blow offshore — no-ride
  • Extreme heat and little wind in summer
