About this spot

Windfinder reported German freestyle rider Emmanuel Norman's 2011 trip to Kokrobite, where he launched straight off the beach in the steady coastal wind. Today Kokrobite is best known as Ghana's beginner surf beach, with lodges and board hire.

Open-ocean beach break with currents — for riders who can manage waves alone.

Amenities

  • Beach lodges and bars
  • Surf schools and board hire

Needs local verification: Compiled in October 2026 from All About Accra's water-sports guide, the Accra Street Journal beach guide, Windfinder's 2011 Ghana kite trip report and an estuary travel guide. Ghana has only these two documented kite spots and no certified kite school, so neither carries a beginner label. Wind sector is my reading of the south-west sea breeze; pins are approximate. Water temperature is a seasonal Gulf of Guinea estimate.

Local hazards

  • Shore break and strong currents
  • Surfers and swimmers
  • No kite rescue
