About this spot
Mushow Kitebeach (MKB) by the village of Pavlov is the name every Czech rider knows. Surfmagazín calls it one of the most visited beaches in the country: when a north-westerly appears on the forecast, riders drive in from all over the republic. The beach is grass, about 200 m long, with a gentle entry.
A north-westerly blows side-onshore here and is the safe direction. As the wind swings west, launching gets harder — it twists and gusts on the beach and only smooths out further from the bank. The water is already deep about 7 m from the shore, which is why the guide recommends the spot to self-sufficient riders and tells newcomers to watch first and ask the locals what the wind is doing today.
Lessons do happen here, but as deep-water lessons: Mushow Kiteschool works with a rescue boat, radio helmets and a 2 m² trainer kite, and HARAKIRI sells a one-day deep-water course on Nové Mlýny with boat assistance. That is why the spot is not marked beginner-friendly — you start here with a school and a boat, not on your own.

Needs local verification: Beginner label withheld: the schools teach here only as boat-assisted deep-water lessons. Compiled in October 2026 from the Czech kiting association (Český svaz kitingu), kiteboarding.cz spot articles, Surfmagazín's Czech spot guide, school pages (Kitesport Lipno, Mushow Kiteschool, HARAKIRI kite kurzy), the South Bohemia tourism board and community spot lists (Kiteforum, Spotkitesurf). Pins are approximate, wind windows are partly my reading of the shoreline, and fishing, camping-fee and bathing-zone rules change by season — they need checking on site. Water temperature is a seasonal reservoir estimate; the marine model has no inland data.
Local hazards
- Deep water a few metres from the bank — no standing zone
- Westerly wind twists and gusts at the launch; get out on the water quickly and never park the kite at 12 o'clock
- Crowded on good north-westerly days
