About this spot

Bariloche's municipal tourism site calls the Nahuel Huapi one of the best kitesurfing locations in Argentina, says the wind is even virtually every day with safe shores, and states that kitesurf schools offer classes for beginners — up to four hours with 1.5 hours in the water, transfers and gear included. Costa Kite Bariloche, the school based on this launch, says it teaches people starting from zero with instructors certified by the Asociación Argentina de Kitesurf.

The direction agrees across sources: the community spot guide lists best and main direction W, WNW and NW as a thermal wind with best months November, December, January and February, and the neighbouring Dina Huapi municipal tourism page independently reports predominant north-westerly wind arriving stable, onshore and without excess. Strength is the loose number — one kitesurf guide quotes 12–25 knots typically in the afternoon, while IKSURFMAG reports steady summer thermals of 20–30 knots with occasional 35–40 knot days, so the range here is deliberately wide and depends on the day.

The map pin is the school's own published location, which matches the coordinate recorded for this spot in the Wannakitesurf atlas, and the school runs a live wind station on WindGuru plus two lake cameras — check both before driving to the water. The lake is cold all year: satellite-derived averages put the warmest month (February) near 15 °C and the coldest (September) near 7 °C, guides report about 14 °C in summer, and riders report stones on the entry.
