About this spot
Surf Camp Raches calls its launch "Faros Raches", Spots4Kite identifies Raches at Drepano Beach on the Malian Gulf, and Allovergreece publishes a GPS pin on a kite-specific Raches beach page — one launch complex, recorded once rather than as three separate spots, and not the Drepano near Patras. A spit splits butter-flat water sheltered from the offshore wind from onshore chop and small waves on the other side, with coarse sand, rocks, large rocky plates in the freestyle zone, boulders at the onshore waterline, and urchins, sharp stones and slippery plates reported.
The sources disagree and both accounts stay visible: Spots4Kite gives east to north-east at 15–25 knots from June to September, Surf Camp Raches describes a thermal season from mid-April to late October starting around 13:00–14:00 and running to sunset plus winter north-easterly sessions, and Allovergreece instead says north and north-east 15–25 knots with access throughout the year. Depth also conflicts — one source says the water deepens gently, another that it increases quickly after a few metres. Schools do teach here and the operator advertises beach staff for launch and landing and dedicated rescue boats, so this is not labelled experienced-only, but no beginner flag is set: the operator calls its choppy side suitable for beginners while the specialist guide says entry is less suitable for beginners and not ideal for first-timers, and no shallow, flat, far-walkable teaching zone is documented.
Sources
- Surf Camp Raches — the spot
Operator's own launch page: Faros Raches, coaching and launch support, two riding zones, longer thermal season with winter north-easterly sessions, advertised rescue boats.
- Spots4Kite — Surf Camp Raches
Specialist guide linking Raches to Drepano Beach: E–NE at 15–25 knots June–September, hazards, quick deepening and a beginner caveat despite the schools.
- Allovergreece — Raches
Kite-specific beach page publishing the GPS pin, N/NE 15–25 knots, gently deepening depth and urchins or rocks; does not prove legal permission.

Access & parking
Named beach only; current launch boundaries, permissions and access restrictions need local confirmation.
Parking: Not verified
Amenities
- Surf Camp Raches — coaching, beach staff for launch and landing and rescue support boats advertised by the operator
- Two local schools reported by a specialist guide
Needs local verification: Coordinate: GPS published on Allovergreece's kite-specific Raches beach page; a directory beach pin, not a surveyed school rigging patch. Coordinates are approximate spot markers, not surveyed launch points. Wind safety and operating limits remain unknown; no ride or kite-size advice is issued. Sources confirm only the facts explicitly attributed to them.
Local hazards
- Large rocky plates in the freestyle zone and boulders at the onshore waterline
- Urchins, sharp stones and slippery plates
- Offshore drift exposure on the flat side of the spit
- Depth described differently by two sources
- Wind season, direction and strength recorded three different ways
- Operator rescue cover is an advertised claim, not verified public provision
