About this spot
Blueplanet sits on a peninsula that encloses a lagoon of several square kilometres near the village of Shorabad. The school says it works on every wind direction, it is safe to land on all shores, water is at most about 1.5 m deep and the bottom is sand and seaweed with no stones — no booties needed. The official tourism board calls it the country's first kitesurfing centre.
On ESE days the wind blows over the peninsula and the lagoon goes mirror-flat. The open-sea side is choppy and only ridden in onshore or side-onshore wind because no rescue boat operates; strong NNE days can bring a 1–1.5 m wave about 70 m out, and old oil rigs offshore must be avoided — talk to the crew first.
Season June to October with about 80 % wind probability per the school. Courses run with radio helmets; a 6-hour group basic course was listed at 380 AZN per person.
