About this spot
Tala Bay is a purpose-built resort and marina on the South Beach coast. Inside the breakwaters the water is flat and protected; outside, the gulf northerly runs clean down the coast. Riders based here launch outside the marina area and ride the open bay.
The bay is more sheltered than the open South Beach strip, so the wind arrives a little softer and gustier close in — the trade-off for flatter water. On strong days the cleaner wind is further out towards the middle of the gulf.
This is a private resort beach: access, launch permission and any boat traffic rules need to be confirmed with the resort or a local operator before riding. The reef continues along this stretch, so the same coral-head caution applies.
