About this spot

Lynæs sits on the north coast of Zealand near the entrance of the Isefjord, about an hour's drive from Copenhagen, and is one of the most popular beginner spots in eastern Denmark. A wide, shallow sandy area off the small harbour gives standing-depth, flat to lightly choppy water — forgiving conditions for first rides and freestyle practice.

The launch faces roughly north to north-west across the shallow bay: north-west, north and north-east winds are onshore to side-onshore and the safest directions; west and east work as side-shore. Southerly winds blow from the land and are offshore — do not ride. Keep clear of the Lynæs harbour entrance and the ferry/boat channel, and watch for moored boats and swimmers in summer.

There are kite schools and a surf centre at Lynæs in season, parking near the harbour and beach, and cafés and a campsite nearby. Kite zones and seasonal rules should be confirmed locally.
