About this spot

Spots4Kite describes Tsimari (also listed as Dioni Katochi Beach or "Flatland") as a sandspit with an open-sea riding side and a shallow, very flat lagoon behind it, worked by a west to north-west wind that is onshore or side-onshore on the sea side and offshore or side-offshore in the lagoon. The guide highlights May to September with ordinary thermals of 10–16 knots starting around 17:00–18:00 and reinforced frontal days at 20–25 knots; another guide gives a higher typical range of 15–25 knots, most commonly 15–20, with July and August the peak.

The guide supports beginners on the sea-facing side, but no measured walkable extent is published and the lagoon's flat water comes with an offshore wind, so no beginner claim is carried over here. A dated first-hand report documents storm-driven changes to the shoreline and access, and the guide's own camping notes are internally inconsistent, so current access and permission need local confirmation; no permanent school is documented by a qualified source.

Needs local verification: Coordinate: Spots4Kite embedded spot pin; shoreline changes mean it is a spot-area reference, not a current waterline. Coordinates are approximate spot markers, not surveyed launch points. Wind safety and operating limits remain unknown; no ride or kite-size advice is issued. Sources confirm only the facts explicitly attributed to them.

Local hazards

  • Lagoon side is offshore — flat water there is not a beginner area
  • Sandbar and access shift after storms
  • Remote, no rescue service documented
  • Camping/access status inconsistent between the guide's own notes
