About this spot

SurfinGR describes a designated beginners' zone on the sea-facing side of the Agios Nikolaos spit where water stays waist-deep for around 30 m, flat to small chop, with an offshore reef damping the waves, and a first-hand instructional travel report independently describes the same waist-depth cross-onshore conditions. The same guide lists shells, bathers and busy teaching areas, and several schools operate at the complex, one of them reporting a safety boat.

The opposite, lagoon-facing side of the same spit is the freestyle area — exceptionally flat and shallow, but with offshore drift there, and SurfinGR states beginner teaching is explicitly forbidden in that zone. Both faces sit inside one spot marker because the sources publish a single complex-level coordinate, so riders must confirm on site which face and which zone the wind suits; the published depth figures are descriptive reports, not a survey.
