About this spot

Lady's Mile is the long sand-and-shingle spit that curves south from Limassol along the edge of Akrotiri bay. The water shelves so gently that you can stand hundreds of metres out, and in the shallows the surface stays smooth even when it is blowing properly — the safest, most forgiving spot on the southern coast and the favourite of Limassol's beginners and freestylers.

The beach faces south-east into the bay, so E, SE and S winds blow onshore and the summer sea breeze works beautifully. Winds from the west and north-west come over the salt lake behind the spit — offshore, gusty and dangerous. There are no tides to speak of; the bottom is a mix of sand and mud with some weed and rocks near the old groynes, and in high summer the shallow water warms up like a bath (25 °C+).

Access is along the Lady's Mile road; parking is informal along the spit, with beach bars and tavernas nearby. Kite schools from Limassol teach here in summer. Suitable for all levels, with beginners getting the best of the season between May and September — check the water clarity after storms, when the shallow bay can stir up sediment.
