About this spot
Kitesports Macedonia calls Prespa the most popular kite spot in the country — 'a large number of windy days, shallow water over a huge area and a stunning landscape' — and the club works the lake by wind direction: kiter and paraglider Karolina Smilevska told Sakam Da Kažam that when the wind is from the north-east the group comes to Stenje, and when it is from the south they move to Slivnica.
The club's figures for the lake are 10–35 knots, water 10–30 °C and a May–October season, with the launch area shallow over a wide expanse — which is why the club says Prespa suits beginners and advanced riders alike. Stenje sits on the western shore under the Galičica and Baba slopes, so a north-easterly arrives off the open water.
No kite school operates here — the club is a community of around a hundred riders who organise sessions through a Viber group — so bring your own kit and a buddy. The settlement is a tourist village with beaches, so in high summer the water is shared with swimmers.

Parking: Village beach parking (no kite-specific lot documented).
Amenities
- Beach bars and holiday accommodation in the tourist settlement
- Kitesports Macedonia community sessions (no paid school documented)
Needs local verification: Compiled in October 2026 from Kitesports Macedonia (kitesports.mk), Windy.app's North Macedonia kite directory, a Sakam Da Kažam report on the Prespa launches with the Vertigo club, a Slovenian trip report on Slivnica, Windfinder's Star Dojran page and Wikipedia's Dojran lake article. No kite school operates in the country, so no lessons or rental are documented; the water tables are seasonal estimates from the lakes' documented surface ranges. Exact launch points, entry conditions, parking and any protected-area rules need on-site confirmation.
Local hazards
- A westerly blows offshore down the shore — the club only launches here on a north-easterly
- Galičica/Baba slope gusts funnelling onto the water
- No kite school, patrol or rescue on the lake
- Swimmers and beach users in July–August
