About this spot
Svencelė is the undisputed centre of Lithuanian kitesurfing. A wide, sheltered bay on the Curonian Lagoon offers standing-depth water stretching hundreds of metres from shore, so beginners can relaunch, body-drag and recover boards without ever being out of their depth. The bottom is mostly soft sand with occasional grass patches, and the water is flat even in strong wind — perfect for first waterstarts, upwind riding and freestyle progression.
The spot works best in south-westerly to north-westerly winds, which blow side-onshore across the lagoon. Anything with east in it is offshore and dangerous: the wind blows you away from the launch toward the far shore several kilometres away. In season the bay gets busy — there are designated zones for schools, so respect the marked areas and give way to lessons.
The village around the spot has grown into a full kite resort: the municipality's own tourism page lists a whole row of schools on this beach — Wind ON, Life is Life, Gspot, Xpro, 2kite and Windigo among them — plus rental, cafés and accommodation within walking distance of the launch. It is the most convenient place in Lithuania to learn, and still fun for experienced riders chasing flat-water freestyle sessions.
